Prof. Kim has been elected as a Fellow of Optica and received the Optica Fellow plaque at CLEO 2023. He was cited "For pioneering contributions to ultralow-noise optical frequency combs and their applications including large-scale timing synchronization and ultrafast time-of-flight sensors."
